Updating Due Dates
IMPORTANT: We strongly recommend that you create extension dates instead of extending deadlines. Why? When you extend the deadline of a report, it impacts the stated time range that the report covers. So, let's imagine that a given report covers January 1, 2016 - January 7, 2016, and then you extend the deadline to January 15, 2016. All of a sudden, your reporting page will make it look like the report covers January 1st - 15th. By using the extension date feature, your January 7th deadline isn't changed.
Updating a deadline changes the period of time that the report covers. For example, if you launched a report from October 1st – 7th and then changed the deadline to October 15th, it could look like your report collected data from the 1st through the 15th.
If you are looking to give your reporters more time to complete a report but don’t want to change the formal deadline, it’s best to create an extension period (see the next section).
To update the deadline of a currently or previously active report:
- On the left, in your Mission Control, click Report Management.
- Click Manage existing & scheduled launches.
- Find the Active or Closed launch you would like to update by opening the appropriate panel.
- Under the Action column choose Edit Launch.
- When the launch opens, find the Update Schedule panel and click the Edit link.
In the Due Date or the Optional Extension Period section, choose any acceptable date:
Acceptable dates for closed reports: Any date after the current deadline.
- When the launch opens, find the Update Schedule panel and click the Edit link.
- If, as a result of change you’ve made, there are updates you need to make, you’ll see a pop-up like this one:
- Click all of the required Set links (green checkmarks will appear when you’ve completed all steps).
- To finish the change, click the Return to Report Management Page button.
